How can local, state and federal groups utilize arts / entertainment to both educate the public and pass a Green New Deal?
SPEAKERS
Jamie Margolin is a Colombian-American climate justice activist who identifies in the LGBTQIA+ community as lesbian. She is also the founder and co-executive director of Zero Hour, a climate action organization based in Seattle, Washington. Her writing about climate change has appeared in many publications including HuffPost, Teen Ink and CNN.
Margolin has just published book Youth to Power, with a foreword by Greta Thunberg.

Josh Fox is best known as the Oscar-nominated, Emmy-winning writer/director of GASLAND Parts I and II. He is internationally recognized as a spokesperson and leader on the issue of fracking and extreme energy development. In 2017, he was awarded his third Environmental Media Association award for Best Documentary for his latest film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016.

Nithya Raman is an urban planner who has spent her entire career working on urban poverty and women's rights. In India, she led work bolstering slum dwellers' fight for basic necessities like running water, toilets, and land rights. In LA, she co-founded SELAH, one of the most active homeless coalitions in the city and served as the first executive director of Time’s Up Entertainment. She is currently a candidate for Los Angeles City Council in District 4, who has advanced to the November runoff.

Nadia Nazar is a 18 year old artist and climate organizer located in Baltimore, MD. Nadia’s parents are both immigrants from Kerala. Nadia is a Founder, Co-Executive Director, and Art Director of the youth led Climate Organization, Zero Hour. She is currently a high school senior, and is working toward implementing climate action in her school county and community. She was one of
the lead organizers for the March 15th DC Climate Strike as well as the September 20th DC Climate Strike.

Debra Scacco is an artist, curator and creative strategist working at the intersection of environment, history and identity. She is the Founding Director of AIR, the artist- in-residence program at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI). AIR supports climate-focussed artists with research opportunities within an extended network of thought leaders working to alleviate the climate crisis, and access to a $10M+ prototyping center to make new work resulting from their research. Her work can be seen at Los Angeles State Historic Park and LAX Airport, and is found in collections internationally.
